virtualization technology is a key responsibility for the rising of cloud computing. Clouds are public or private and each of different things to their users. some offers to their users access to physical hardware, but most vertualize their enviroment. Some offer the bare machines without vertualization, but others offer software that is ready to use and can be configured in a manner, users can develop new services.
As per National Institute of Standards and technology following are the five infortant characteristics of cloud.
1. On-demand self-service:-
usres should be offferd resources without human interaction.
2. Broad network access:-
Heterogenious devices should be able to use requied resources over the network via the standard mechanism.
3. Resources pooling:-
Multiple usres should be able to pool computing resources owned by provoid. Thi smust be offered with the capability of assinging and reassiging location of "their" resources od country in which they exist.
4. Rapid elasticity:-
Users demands should be fulfilled by acquring and releasing resources automatically.
5. Measured service:-
the service offered by cloud provoider and resources used by the user should match and both should agree on the same.
Clouds as a service:-
Clouds provide the direct access to a vertual machine, that user can in a manner as needs. Therefore the same cloud may run diffrent operating systems, possibly on the same hardware. This is called as IAAS (Infrastructure as a service). Platform as a service (PAAS)
offer the envoirment that contain the specific OS, database, Web server etc. SAAS (Software As A Service) offers access to specific software that user needs and many other types of as-a-service. Amazon EC2 is exmple of IAAS.
Outsourcing the software, platform and processing bypass the burden of managing our IT infrastructer, backup, maintenance, depreciation, scalability, reliability, performance, and perphaps security. Everything requried is carried out in one place and assuming the cloud provider is capable, done well.
